It began with a crackle.
1999.
"I could hear each record deteriorating. After two or three plays, the crackle began."
Pino Moschetta had spent years assembling his vinyl collection.
Now he could hear it wearing away under his own stylus: the price of every listen, paid in something he could never get back.
So he decided to digitize all of it, before it got worse.
And immediately ran into a wall.
No consumer machine could do it at the quality he demanded. Not close. The professional world had the right tool - the DAW, the workstation on which real records were actually made - but it was a bulky, noisy office object, built for a studio, unwelcome in a listening room.
He wanted the machine the professionals had. He wanted it to live inside a Hi-Fi system.
Nobody made that.
So he built it himself.
The obsessive journey into digital just started. Ever since, decades of constant and meticulous research & development, fueled by Pino's long-standing audiophile passion, are the reason why every single enthusiast who ever listened to TDA turned immediately into a proud customer.

How things developed.
But a machine like this had one problem: nobody knew of it, or believed it, until they heard it. For years, that meant Think Digital Audio was known exactly as far as word of mouth could carry it - from one listening room to the next, one convinced audiophile at a time.
Superb for those who found us. Still invisible to everyone else.
Giuseppe William Moschetta joined as co-founder to solve that problem, building the commercial side of the company.
His work is not only the part of TDA that faces outward: the digital channels, the marketing, the international audience and the distribution partnerships now taking the brand beyond Italy. But also the future leadership and continuity of the brand.
Everything in TDA's workshop is measured against one thing: an acoustic instrument, played live, in a real room, without amplification.
Giuseppe William Moschetta spent eight years doing exactly that, and from a very early age. Piano, at the "Conservatorio di Musica N. Piccinni”; first prizes in national and international competitions.
The reference TDA measures itself against has never been an abstraction.
He has been on the other side of it: the hands, the room, the decay of the last note in the air.

Ours fits in a sentence, and it has never moved:
"One reference. One only: the sound of acoustic instruments, heard live, without amplification. That is our school. Everything we build is measured against live musical experience - sound that is clear, rich in micro-detail, dynamic, alive, and tonally correct."
Which gives us a finishing test that has nothing to do with a bench: if a machine moves you the way a real instrument in a real room does, it's finished. If not, it goes back.
No launch date has ever overruled that sentence.
And it's why our products take as long as they take.

The most expensive mistake in high-end audio is the belief that the digital domain is nothing but ones and zeros.
A digital stream is not an abstraction - it travels through real electronics, real noise, real heat. And enthusiasts who complain that a celebrated DAC sounds ordinary have usually diagnosed the wrong component: the converter was starved upstream, by a source designed to please the eye rather than protect the signal.
So we've spent more than twenty-five years on the source. Front by front, in the order the problems revealed themselves.
The signal must arrive at the DAC intact. Everything follows from that.
Circuit topology and the software layer that governs the digital stream. Mechanical resonance - the entire lesson of the Stage #4. Heat, because thermal noise finds its way into the signal like water finds a crack. And now, with Signature, the time domain, where the choice of clock oscillators decides whether the stream degrades or arrives whole.
